I've recently been re-reading the warrior cats series from my childhood, and have been reminded how much I love Bluestar. Low-key some of the choices she makes are devastating and I felt like screaming at her through my book for making them, yet she's always felt deeply relatable at the same time. I wanted to pay homage to the last scene in her life right before going over the gorge, where the final decision she makes is to save those she loves from the pack of dogs that are after them, even as her brain is failing her and she is becoming forgetful and paranoid. She's such a deeply human character, despite being a cat, I just adore her so much.
